The reception will be hosted by Alabama NAACP President Ed Vaughn. The ceremony will open with a music-filled Tribute to Rosa Parks in honor of the heroine and icon who galvanized America’s Civil Rights Revolution. The event will be held at the Civil Rights Institute. Invited Guests include: Bob Riley (Governor or Alabama), Lucy Baxley (Lieutenant Governor of Alabama), Artur Davis (Birmingham Congressman), Bobby Bright (Mayor or Montgomery), Bernard Kincaid (Mayor of Birmingham) Sheila Smoot (Jefferson County Commissioner), Charles White (NAACP Director of Region 5), Reverend C.S. Pope (Shiloh Baptist Church). |

Attendees will gather at the closing banquet to enjoy a sit-down dinner and a keynote address, poetry performance, and post-convention initiatives. Invited Keynote speaker – Judge Greg Mathis. Proceeds will benefit the NAACP state and national programs. |

Convention Workshops and Meetings: The first annual NAACP Freedom Week Conference is being held to ask the next generation of leaders and supporters of the civil rights agenda to join the movement for social justice in all walks of life. An estimated 500 Young adults aged 25-50 are expected to attend the Convention to focus on strategies that work to improve the quality of life and rural and urban America.
Corporate, National and Local Leaders through the US - Numerous national and local leaders from the business, political, social community, sports and entertainment arenas will come together to make this historic week educational, entertaining and empowering. Invited guests include Alabama Governor Bob Riley, Birmingham Congressman Artur Davis, US Senator for Illinois Barack Obama, Reverend C.S. Pope, and several other invited guests.
Banquet Events: Sponsors will have an exclusive opportunity to address the crowds. It's a great way for our TITLE Sponsor to gear up and wind down a week focused towards bringing about a fundamental change in Alabama.
